Leaning In, Hearing Out gathers together a plethora of perspectives from 14 practitioners – artists, curators, mediators – in order to better understand the past, present and future of the photographic art field in Finnish/Nordic perspective.
The book addresses the changes, challenges and resources in the field through a series of six interviews conducted between 2023 and 2024 by artist-curator Selina Oakes.
Within this collection of multithematic dialogues – with topics including activism, artist-led, connection, exhibition making, gender, institutions, internationality, livelihood, sustainability, technology – is an honest and open invitation for readers and receivers to listen closely, engage presently and imagine otherwise; to care and to act for a more collective future.
