WunderKombināts. Piekļuve / Access

The publication WunderKombināts. Piekļuve / Access is the first in a series of thematic editions conceptualized as a satellite project to complement the yearbooks (WunderKombināts. Latvijas mākslas gadagrāmata).

Its central theme, "access," emerged naturally from conversations and observations within the local art scene. For the most part, these focused on the lack of availability of both tangible and intangible resources in the creative sphere, but they also touched upon the freedom of expression and choice, the reachability of art and its language for diverse audiences, the accessibility of public spaces, and other aspects, prompting reflection on availability and accessibility from a wide variety of angles. In other words, the publication expands on the meanings of the terms "accessibility" and "availability" in various contexts and perspectives within the art environment in a justified, yet largely arbitrary manner-using these concepts more as tools to discover new viewpoints and approaches.

The publication features texts by curators and researchers Agnese Zviedre, Žanete Liekīte, Liāna Ivete Žilde, An Paenhuysen, and Lina Michelkevičė, alongside a visual essay by artist Liene Pavlovska. WunderKombināts. Piekļuve / Access is published by the Wunder Kombinat association and edited by Elīna Ķempele. The design and visual identity of the project were created by Anete Krūmiņa, and the publication was printed by "Jelgavas tipogrāfija."

This series of thematic editions is being developed in parallel with the publication WunderKombināts. Latvijas mākslas gadagrāmata (WunderKombināts. Latvian Art Yearbook), which focuses on the critical analysis of Latvian art events not only within art theory but also in the broader context of cultural and socially relevant processes. The yearbook has been published since 2022.
