The publication features a selection of “nature-inspired” innovative architectural, design, and artistic spatial practices—15 projects closely connected to nature and the natural environment. These works draw inspiration from landscapes, explore and analyze landscapes, reconsider resource chains, the use of resources and natural materials, and speculate on naturalness within the context of contemporary sustainability principles. The publication emphasizes projects by Latvian authors, architects, artists, and designers, complemented by two stories from the other Baltic states. Each selected work is described through texts-essays prepared by the compiler, based on interviews with the authors, submitted descriptions, and visual materials.
The book-catalog includes creative works, research, and projects by authors such as Toms Kokins (TOKOBI), Marija Katrīna Dambe and Florian Betat (NOMAD Architects), Roberta Fišere and Austris Mailītis (MAILĪTIS Architects), Roland Reemaa and Laura Linsi (LLRRLLRR), Sarmīte Poļakova (STUDIO SARMITE), Arnita Melzoba and Kārlis Melzobs (GAISS Architects), Reinis Spaile (Ezera Skaņas), Zane Priede, Maksims Šenteļevs, Mārīte Mastiņa-Pēterkopa and Rolands Pēterkops (MAREUNROL’s), Madara Kvēpa, Edgars Ameriks (Kūdras māja), Jonas Žukauskas, Jurga Daubaraite and Egija Inzule (Neringa Forest Architecture), Dagnija Smilga, Niklāvs Paegle and Kārlis Bērziņš (ĒTER), and Andris Eglītis (Savvaļa).
