Esmu pamanījusi, ka dārzēniecība un kulinārija (amatiera līmenī) ļauj man piedzīvot mīlestības pilnas attiecības ar krāsu un tekstūru. Vēl dziļāk mani saviļņo, kad ar to strādā tādas autores kā Darja Meļņikova vai Jūlija Sinka. Un te, gribētos domāt, ka esmu viņām iedevusi augšni kaut kam piepildošam. Kaut kam, kas liek reflektēt par emocionālo labklājību — arvien pietiekami skopi aplūkotu tēmu laikmetīgajā mākslā. Es ceru, ka aizskartie temati aicinās uz refleksiju par to, kā veicināt mākslinieku labbūtību un cieņpilnu attieksmi pret vidi, kuru kultivējam; ar vērtībām, kurām dalāmies; ko liekam zemē un ko no tās paņemam. To visu savā dzejolī (kas atrodams šajā numurā) ietvērusi Lote Vilma Vītiņa. Tas uzpeld manā prātā ārkārtīgi bieži, īpaši, kad pasaulē notiekošais neļauj iemigt. That’s exactly why, in creating the July issue of Mākslas Žurnāls, it was important for me to bring together authors with whom I feel a kinship and from whom I draw inspiration — from what they do and what each of them stands for. I’ve noticed that gardening and cooking (on an amateur level) allow me to experience love-filled relationships with color and texture. I am moved even more deeply when such work is done by authors like Darja Meļņikova or Jūlija Sinka. And here, I’d like to think that I’ve offered them fertile ground for something meaningful to grow. Something that prompts reflection on emotional well-being — a topic still rather sparingly addressed in contemporary art. I hope the themes touched upon in this issue will invite reflection on how to support the well-being of artists and a respectful attitude toward the environment we cultivate; on the values we share; on what we put into the soil and what we take from it. All of this is captured in a poem by Lote Vilma Vītiņa (included in this issue). It resurfaces in my mind very often, especially when the events of the world refuse to let us rest.
